Maryhill Loops Road Cornering Clinic - Saturday 8/26/2017
On Saturday morning, August 26th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. registered attendees of Sportbike Northwest & Sport Touring Northwest can opt to participate in special clinic led by Jesse Murphy and his team from Truitt Motorcycle Education. There is an additional fee to cover the cost of instructors and opening up the road for use during the cornering clinic. (The road is otherwise open to all rally attendees at no additional charge Saturday afternoon from 1-4 pm.)
This year's clinic will focus on downhill cornering including line selection, blind corners, decreasing radius turns, transitioning corners and throttle and braking control. Riders are provided a number of classroom lessons and then will be led and followed through the road by the control riders to provide guidance and feedback after each lesson.
The Historic Maryhill Loops Road is unlike riding on a track as it features a variety of real world corners, including decreasing radius, blind, linked and a double apex/blind turn. Participating riders get hours of riding the road under one way flow without waiting in line, providing the opportunity for serious riding improvement.
Northwest motorcycle safety instructor, Bruce Scott, puts it this way - "A few years back, myself and another instructor did Spokane raceways on a Friday and Maryhill on Saturday. As fun as the track was, both of us agreed that Maryhill was way more fun."
You must be pre-registered for the Rally in the Gorge to sign up for this class. The clinic is limited to just 20 riders. Proof of insurance specific to the bike you will ride is required on the day of.
Be sure to save your email receipt that follows as proof of purchase. We will note your registration in our Rally in the Gorge registration docket. Nothing further will be mailed to you. The clinic goes on rain or shine. There are no refunds.
