Motorcycle Adventurer: Carl Stearns Clancy: First Motorcyclist To Ride Around The World 1912-1913 - AUTOGRAPHED
A captivating account of the one of the first journey's around the very small world of the early part of the 20th century. Unlike many travelogues it includes a well-structured historical account of the places visited and that is one of the greatest strengths of the narrative. It would be interesting to travel the same routes again, particularly the swampy, sandy corduroy horse carriage tracks in Western USA that are probably now concrete highways. The contrast between the American and British colonial point of view adds to the drama particularly in Ceylon. Dr Frazier has done a great job piecing together this book, which only previously appeared as a series in a motorcycle magazine from 1912-1913.
Readers must remember, this was 100 years ago and this story would have been lost if it wasn't for this author. You support his efforts when you buy this book. Looking for an adventure novel this isn't it. Looking for history and a written log on how difficult travel was 100 years ago, then this is the book for you.
